    4. How is Gabriel described?
    5. What is promised in verses 24?

INTERPRETATION

What does it mean?

  1. Where do you think Daniel was reading in Jeremiah?
  2. Read Jeremiah 29:10-14.
    1. What connections do you see?
    2. How might these words have encouraged Daniel while he was in exile?
  3. Why were the 70 weeks decreed?
  4. There are a few characters mentioned in Gabriel's explanation.
    1. Who do you think is the anointed one in verse 25?
    2. What about the prince at the end of verse 26?
    3. The desolator in verse 27?

APPLICATION

How should it change us?

  1. What can you learn from Daniel's prayer?
  2. Read 1 John 1:5-9.
    1. Why is it safe for Christians to confess their sins?
    2. How can you grow in "walking in the light" (confessing your sins to God and to one another)?
  3. God's promises to "put an end to sin" and "to atone for iniquity" seem far away for Daniel.
    1. Is God teaching you patience through something in your own life?
    2. How can God's word help you to persevere?
  4. How does Jesus fulfill the promises in verse 24?
