What does it say?

  1. Read Titus 3:1-15
  2. What commands do you see?
  3. Do you notice any words repeated?
  4. What contrasts do you see in this passage (look for the word "but")
  5. What does Pual say about good works in these verses? (v. 1, 5, 8, 14)

What does it mean?

  1. Why do you think Titus needs to remind the Cretans to do good works?
  2. How are we saved? (v. 5)
    1. If we're not saved by our good works, why does Paul want them to "devote" themselves to good works? (v. 8, 14)
  3. What "things" are excellent and profitable for people?
    1. Look back to verses 4-7. How would you sum up these verses in 1 sentence?
    2. How are "these things" profitable?
  4. What does it mean to "stir up division"? (v. 10)
    1. Why does Paul Give Such a strong warning against this?
  5. Paul mentions many people in verses 12-15. 
    1. What do these brief comments tell you about Paul's relationships with them?
    2. Who are "our people" in verse 14?

How should it change us?

  1. What would it look like for someone to cause division in a church today?
    1. How might you be susceptible to causing division?
    2. What is something that you can do to promote unity in the church, rather than division?
  2. What is one specific way that you've seen good works in another person's life lately? (tell them!)
    1. How can you grow in doing good and worthwhile things yourself?
    2. Are there any "unfruitful" things that you should give up?
  3. Pray in light of this passage and about any applications you have made.
  4. Sing Not in Me to God and to one another.
