  1. Read Psalm 97

INTERPRETATION
What does it mean?

  1. What does it mean that "righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne? (v2)
  2. What does the description of God's presence communicate about him?
  3. Who/What is "Zion"? Who are the daughters of Judah? (v8)
  4. What does it mean that "Light is sown for the righteous"? (v11)
  5. How does this passage point to the Lord Jesus Christ?

APPLICATION
How should it change us?

  1. How does this vision of God compare to how you think about God?
    a. What difference does it make?
  2. How does one grow in hating evil?
  3. Where do you search for joy and gladness?
  4. What would a life marked by rejoicing in the LORD look?

What does it mean?

  1. Summarize the passage in one sentence
  2. What are the vessels for honorable use and dishonorable use in 2:20–21?
  3. Who is the master of the house in 2:21?
  4. Who is the Lord's servant in 2:24?
  5. What does the devil do to those caught up in false teaching in 2:26?
  6. What are the 'last days' in 3:1?

APPLICATION
How should it change us?

  1. How do you help your fellow church members flee "youthful passions and pursue righteousness..."?
  2. What can you pray for the elders of Covenant Hope Church from this passage?
  3. How do you protect fellow members from people described in 3:2–7?
