INTERPRETATION
What does it mean?

  1. Summarize the passage in one sentence
  2. What is 'however' referring to in v. 10?
  3. What does v. 12 mean? Is it true for all Christians?
  4. Who taught Timothy the Scriptures? (cf. 2 Tim 1:5)
  5. What are the 'sacred writings' (v. 15)?
  6. What books of the Bible is 'Scripture' referring to (v. 16)?

APPLICATION
How should it change us?

  1. How does v. 12 apply to our church?
  2. How can you help the members of the church continue in what they've learned?
  3. Timothy was acquainted with the sacred writings from childhood. How can you help members with children be equipped to teach their children?
  4. What is your attitude toward Scripture? How often do you read it and meditate on it? How is this the same or different from Paul's attitude in v. 16?

What does it mean?

  1. Summarize the passage in one sentence
  2. What is the significance of Paul saying "the offspring of David" in v. 8?

  4. Who are "the elect" in v. 10?
  5. What does the phrase, "if we deny him, he also will deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful–for he cannot deny himself" mean?

How should it change us?

  1. How often do you remember Jesus Christ throughout the day? How can you think about him more?
  2. God's word is not bound. How does this fact give you comfort and assurance in your evangelism?
  3. What was Paul's purpose? How is yours similar or different?
