INTERPRETATION
What does it mean?
- When we ask in Jesus' name, why is it important to know that Jesus does not ask the Father on our behalf?
- Read John 14:21. How is this promise seen here in John 16:27?
- What does this mean for our prayers? Do we need to go through any "middle man" to speak with the Father?
- When will Jesus go to the Father? (John 16:28)
- If you're not sure about the answer, what are some possible answers? Which one do you think fits best with what Jesus has been describing in this chapter?
- What is it that the disciples now understand about Jesus?
- Why do you think Jesus questions their understanding and belief in John 16:31?
- What is Jesus predicting will happen?
- What comfort does Jesus leave them with?
- Where else have you seen promises about comfort/peace in the Upper Room Discourse (John 13-17)?
- Read John 14:27-29. What connections do you see to this passage (16:25-33)?

- When you pray to the Father, do you ever consider that you have direct communication access to the creator of the universe?

- Have you ever let Jesus down as one of his disciples?
- Where can you find strength to remain faithful to God when life is difficult? (remember verses 32 & 33)
- In what way does Jesus' resurrection victory give you comfort and peace?
- How can you pursue peace in Jesus this week?
- Pray in light of this passage and about any applications you have made
