- How is God mentioned and described in this passage?

- What imagery do you see? (things like analogies, metaphors, similes, etc.)
INTERPRETATION
What does it mean?
- Wisdom is personified as a woman throughout this chapter. Verses 4-46 record what she cries aloud.
- Whom does wisdom call to?
- Why do you think that she places herself "beside the gates in front of the town"?
- What are some of the reasons that she gives us to listen to her?
- What is wisdom's relationship to God?
- What do you think it means that "the Lord possessed me at the beginning of his work" (Proverbs 8:22)?
- What does this teach us about the practical benefits of obtaining wisdom for day-to-day life?
- Think back through chapter 8. What are the rewards for those who find wisdom?
- Why do you think anyone would "hate" her (verse 36)?

- What is an area of life that you desire more wisdom?
- What kind of heart attitude does chapter 8 describe is needed in order to experience wisdom's blessings? (verse 34)

- In Proverbs 8 we see wisdom poetically personified. But in history we see wisdom actually personified in the person of Jesus Christ.
