INTERPRETATION
What does it mean?
- What does it mean to be "sanctified"? (1 Cor 1:2)
- How does this encourage you to fight against sin in your life?
- Why do you think Paul begins this letter with Thanksgiving? (1 Cor 2:4-9)
- If you've read ahead or are familiar with this letter, you know that things are messy in this church. Is it surprising that he would begin with thanksgiving?
- How might you expect him to begin this letter?
- How would you summarize how "following" these different leaders is causing divisions in the church?
- What does it mean to preach the gospel, but not with words of eloquent wisdom?
- How might preaching the gospel with eloquent words like that empty the cross of its power?
- What does it mean that "God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong..."?
