What does it say?

    GENESIS 40

    1. Observe the main characters in Genesis 40 
    2. Why are the cupbearer & baker in prison? (Genesis 40:1-2)
    3. Who was assigned to take care of them & why? (Genesis 40:4)
    4. What did Joseph observe about the cup bearer and the baker after they saw the dream? ( (Genesis 40:6-7)
    5. Was Joseph’s dream interpretation accurate?
    6. What was Joseph's request to the Cup Bearer & why? (Genesis 40:14-15)
    7. According to Genesis 40:8, to whom does interpretation belong to? (Genesis 40:8)
    8. Did the cup bearer remember Joseph’s request? (Genesis 40:23 & 41:9-13)

    GENESIS 41

    1. How long after the cupbearer was released, did Pharaoh have his dreams?(Genesis 41:1)
    2. What was the effect on Pharaoh as a result of the dreams? Who did Pharaoh consult first to interpret his dreams? (Genesis 41:8)

What does it mean?

    1. Why do you think God gave these specific dreams to the cupbearer, the baker and Pharoah at this particular time? Why did God choose to communicate in this way?
    2. What do we learn about Joseph’s character & faith in these two passages?              (Genesis 40-41)
    3. Examine the names Joseph gives to his sons. What do these names reveal about Joseph's personal journey and his perspective on his past suffering?
    4. How do these chapters demonstrate God's sovereignty over all events, even those that seem to be working against us? (Genesis 40-41)

APPLICATION

What will I do?

    1. How can we apply Joseph's example of serving others with humility and kindness, even when we are in a difficult or unjust situation?
    2. How can Joseph's perseverance and  trust in God during suffering & long periods of waiting be an encouragement to us in times of difficulty?
    3. Joseph gave all glory to God, while being humble and having a God-centered attitude in both success and hardship. How should this change us?
    4. God was faithful to Joseph. How should we as a believer learn to trust in God in all situations?
    5. Joseph's plan involved a wise use of resources during a time of abundance to prepare for a time of lack. In what ways can we apply this principle of wise stewardship in our own life?
