What does it mean?

  1. There is lots of imagery in this chapter.
    1. Are there any analogies or comparisons that you don't understand? (v. 3, 5, 6, 7, etc.)
    2. What might those things mean?
  2. What statements in this chapter stand out to you about the severity of God's judgment?
    1. What is the particular cause of such a great calamity?
    2. Read Jeremiah 23:9-14
      1. Who is spoken of here?
      2. What connections do you see to Lamentations 4?
  3. In verse 21, it says "Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom." Who is Edom?
    1. Why might they be glad at all of the calamity Judah is experiencing?
    2. What promises do we see in verses 21 and 21 regarding God's people and Edom?
  4. What would you say is the main point of this chapter?
    1. What would the Bible be missing if this chapter was not included?
    2. Do you see any connections to the gospel?

  2. Is there sin in your own life you need to confess? Remember that God is good to those who wait for him and he will have compassion (Lam. 3:25, 32)
