INTERPRETATION

What does it mean?

  1. What does it mean to be "sanctified"? (1 Cor 1:2)
    1. How does this encourage you to fight against sin in your life?
  2. Why do you think Paul begins this letter with Thanksgiving? (1 Cor 2:4-9)
    1. If you've read ahead or are familiar with this letter, you know that things are messy in this church. Is it surprising that he would begin with thanksgiving?
    2. How might you expect him to begin this letter?
  3. How would you summarize how "following" these different leaders is causing divisions in the church?
    1. What does it mean to preach the gospel, but not with words of eloquent wisdom?
    2. How might preaching the gospel with eloquent words like that empty the cross of its power?
