What does it mean?

  1. What does it mean to "know nothing... except Jesus Christ and him crucified"?
    1. Does this verse apply to whether we should read books, go to college, or learn church history? Why or why not?
    2. What would you say is the "job description" of a faithful messenger of the gospel?
  2. How would you define "human wisdom"? [man-centered, missing the Spirit]
    1. What is the end (or result) of human wisdom?
  3. What is different about wisdom that's from God?
    1. What is the end (or result) of God's wisdom?
    2. How can we receive wisdom from God and know his thoughts? (1 Cor 2:11-12)
    3. Do you think it's possible to know God's wisdom apart from the Spirit? Why or why not?

    1. How can you make sure that you are filtering your experiences in this world through the wisdom of God?
  2. If it's impossible for the "natural person" to understand the things of God, how should this affect the way we do evangelism?
    1. What are some ways we tend to rely on our own wisdom when we share the gospel?
    2. How can we do a better job of relying on God's wisdom in these situations?
  3. Pray in light of this passage and any applications you've made. [Perhaps for boldness to speak and share Gods word.]
