  3. Do you notice any repeated words or ideas?
  4. What can you learn about the Thessalonians through these first 10 verses?

INTERPRETATION

What does it mean?

  1. What evidence did Paul find that the Thessalonians had responded to the gospel? (1 Thess. 1:3)
    1. How is each of these pieces of evidence a reflection of Christ?
  2. Paul says that the gospel came to the Thessalonians not in word only, but also in power, the Holy Spirit, and full conviction.
    1. What do you think it means that the gospel came in power?
    2. What do you think it means that the gospel came in the Holy Spirit?
    3. What do you think it means that the gospel came with full conviction?
    4. Is it possible for the gospel to go out without these things? What would that look like?
  3. When the Thessalonians received the gospel, what did they begin to do? (1 Thess. 1:6)
    1. How does somebody become an imitator of someone else?
    2. Verse 7 says that the Thessalonians became examples themselves to the region and everywhere. What were they "famous" for?
    3. How does 1 Thess. 1:9-10 relate to the life of every Christian?
