    2. Do you notice any repeated words or ideas?
    3. What do the churches have in common?
    4. What commands are given to the churches?

INTERPRETATION

What does it mean?

    1. Why might it be important to start and end a letter of commendation and rebuke with reminders about Jesus?
    2. Which of the churches seem to be doing the best spiritually? (Notice that the church in Smyrna receives no rebuke).
      1. What is going on in Smyrna? Are they facing persecution?
      2. What might this suggest about the Christian life?
    3. What stands out to you about these 7 churches?

    1. What kinds of concerns might persecuted churches have for us and our church?
    2. Which of these 7 letters is the most challenging to you personally?
      1. How can you take steps this week to grow?
    3. What was most comforting to you in these letters?
      1. How can you hold on to that this week?
    4. Pray in light of this passage and about any applications you have made
    5. Sing a song from the Hymn Book to God and to one another.
