INTERPRETATION
What does it mean?
- This is the 7th and last "I am" statement in the book of John.
- What does Jesus mean when he says he is the "true vine"?
- What do you think it means to abide in Christ? (John 15:4-7,9-10)
- What does the word "abide" mean?
- A dictionary will tell you that it means to "remain" or "stay in a place for a period of time". It has the same root as the word "abode" or "home".
- What is the result of abiding in Christ?
- What is the result of not abiding in Christ?
- What does the word "abide" mean?
- What does "fruit" look like in the lives of believers?
- How do the purpose statements in this passage help you to understand why Jesus is saying these things? (John 15:11, 17)
- How might obeying Jesus' commands and bearing fruit create joy in our lives?

- Make an effort to encourage them this week by sharing what specific fruit you see in their lives
- How can we love one another as Christ has loved us? (John 15:12-13)
- What is one way you can lay your life down for another this week?
- Pray in light of this passage and about any applications you have made
- Sing O Fount of Love to God and to one another.
