  3. How is God mentioned and described in this passage? If He is not mentioned, what other characters do you see? How are they described?
  4. What commands do you see?
    1. What is the result of these commands?
  5. What imagery do you see? (things like analogies, metaphors, similes, etc.)

INTERPRETATION

What does it mean?

  1. What is a "forbidden woman"? ( Proverbs 5:3, 20)
    1. Why do you think her lips are described as "sweet"?
    2. What are the consequences of listening to her?
      1. Why do you think the consequences are so severe?
  2. How is discipline (Proverbs 5:12, 23) related to wisdom and avoiding the "forbidden woman"?
  3. What is the positive command given by the Father? (Proverbs 5:15-19)
    1. What do you think it means to be "intoxicated" with your spouse?
  4. How do the last few verses give motivation to the commands we've seen? (Proverbs 5:21-23)
  5. If you had to summarize the commands in verses 20-27 into one phrase, what would you say? What is Solomon commanding his son to do?

How should it change us?

  1. Think about the commands in these verses. How do you think they apply to Married Christians today? What about single Christians?
    1. If you're married, how can you "rejoice" in your spouse this week?
    2. If you're not married, how can you rejoice in the season that God has you in?
  2. Have you heard stories about Christians failing to walk wisely in their sexuality? (maybe you know someone personally who has not listened to these wise instructions)
    1. What would it look to walk in discipline in this area of your life?
    2. How can you help each other to avoid the snares of forbidden sexual temptations?
  3. Pray in light of this passage and about any applications you have made
  4. Sing Come Thou Fount to God and to one another.
