  5. What imagery do you see? (things like analogies, metaphors, similes, etc.)

INTERPRETATION

What does it mean?

  1. Wisdom is personified as a woman throughout this chapter. Verses 4-46 record what she cries aloud.
    1. Whom does wisdom call to?
    2. Why do you think that she places herself "beside the gates in front of the town"?
    3. What are some of the reasons that she gives us to listen to her?
  2. What is wisdom's relationship to God?
    1. What do you think it means that "the Lord possessed me at the beginning of his work" (Proverbs 8:22)?
    2. What does this teach us about the practical benefits of obtaining wisdom for day-to-day life?
  3. Think back through chapter 8. What are the rewards for those who find wisdom?
    1. Why do you think anyone would "hate" her (verse 36)?
