  1. Read Revelation 12:1-14:20. (~15 minutes)
  2. Do you notice any repeated themes or words or ideas?
  3. What do you observe about the dragon, the first beast, and the second beast?
    1. How are they similar or different?
  4. What do you notice about the lamb through this passage? (12:11; 13:8; 14:1, 4, 10)
  5. You probably have some questions after reading this section. What is one question that you would like to have answered?

INTERPRETATION

What does it mean?

  1. Does the story in Revelation 12 remind you of another important story in the New Testament?
    1. How do you see the events of Jesus' birth, death, and resurrection here in Revelation 12?
    2. What stands out to you about this "heavenly perspective" of Jesus?
  2. Revelation 12:9 tells us that the great dragon is Satan, and in verse 10 he is called the "accuser". Why is Satan called an "accuser"?
    1. How does he accuse the followers of the Lamb?
    2. How do the followers of the Lamb conquer Satan? What does this mean?
  3. The phrase "Here is a call for the endurance [and faith] of the saints" is repeated  in Rev. 13:10 and Rev. 14:12. How do these descriptions of beasts and judgment call saints to endure?

APPLICATION

How should it change us?

  1. Considering the nature of the devil in this passage... are you more likely to  forget the devil has been overcome or are you more likely to forget that you still need to flee the devil constantly?
    1. Why do you think that is?
    2. How does running to Jesus help us to see our sin (and the devil) clearly?
  2. Once again, we see in Revelation that it is urgent, costly, and yet worthwhile to follow Jesus.
    1. How do the descriptions in this passage help you to see the urgency?
    2. What has following Jesus cost you personally?
    3. Why is it worth it to endure in following Jesus?
  3. Pray in light of this passage and for those close to you who have not yet believed in the gospel.
  4. Sing A Christian's Daily Prayer to God and to one another.
