What does it say?

  1. Read Revelation 6:1-8:1.
  2. Do you notice any repeated words or ideas?
  3. What is the Lamb doing throughout these chapters?
  4. Who do you notice is speaking? (Revelation 6:10, 16-17; 7:13-14)

INTERPRETATION

What does it mean?

  1. Look back at the things happening in Revelation 6:1-11. Do you see any of these things happening in the world today? (i.e. lack of peace, unfairness, etc.)
    1. Which part bothers you most about the world today? Why?
    2. Does this mean we are living in the last days?
      1. Read Hebrews 1:1-2. When are the "last days" according to that passage?
  2. Revelation 6:9-11 describes martyrs, people who have died for God's word.
    1. Why does God tell them to rest a little longer?
    2. What does this mean for the world today?
  3. What is the fate of those who refuse to humble themselves before God at the end of chapter 6?
    1. What similarities or differences do you notice between them and the believers at the end of chapter 7?
    2. What does it mean that the believers robes were made white through washing them in blood? (Revelation 7:14)

APPLICATION

How should it change us?

  1. Does suffering in your life ever make you feel like you can't keep going? or like it feels like evil is in control?
    1. How does the imagery in Revelation 7:15-17 offer comfort when you have feelings like that?
    2. Are there any ways that you have begun to see suffering in your own life as an expression of God's grace to you? How so?
  2. Pray in light of this passage and about any applications you have made
  3. Sing The King in All His Beauty to God and to one another.
