Observation
What does it say?
- Read Revelation 6:1-8:1.
- Do you notice any repeated words or ideas?
- What is the Lamb doing throughout these chapters?
- Who do you notice is speaking? (Revelation 6:10, 16-17; 7:13-14)
INTERPRETATION
What does it mean?
- Look back at the things happening in Revelation 6:1-11. Do you see any of these things happening in the world today? (i.e. lack of peace, unfairness, etc.)
- Which part bothers you most about the world today? Why?
- Does this mean we are living in the last days?
- Read Hebrews 1:1-2. When are the "last days" according to that passage?
- Revelation 6:9-11 describes martyrs, people who have died for God's word.
- Why does God tell them to rest a little longer?
- What does this mean for the world today?
- What is the fate of those who refuse to humble themselves before God at the end of chapter 6?
- What similarities or differences do you notice between them and the believers at the end of chapter 7?
- What does it mean that the believers robes were made white through washing them in blood? (Revelation 7:14)
APPLICATION
How should it change us?
- Does suffering in your life ever make you feel like you can't keep going? or like it feels like evil is in control?
- How does the imagery in Revelation 7:15-17 offer comfort when you have feelings like that?
- Are there any ways that you have begun to see suffering in your own life as an expression of God's grace to you? How so?
- Pray in light of this passage and about any applications you have made
- Sing The King in All His Beauty to God and to one another.
