INTERPRETATION
What does it mean?
- Who wrote the book of Proverbs?
- What was he like? (Proverbs 1:1, 1 Kings 4:29-34, Ecclesiastes 12:9-10)
- Why do you think he wrote this book? Why would he want others to grow wise?
- How is wisdom described in this text?
- How would you define wisdom according to God's word?
- What does the author say are some of the benefits of wisdom?
- Based on the text, would you say that anyone can become wise?
- Verse 7 says that the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.
- What do you think it means to "fear the Lord?
- What are some ways that we tend to neglect the fear of the Lord?

- How interested are you personally in becoming a wise person?
- What has helped you to grow in wisdom?
- Would you consider yourself "teachable"? The following questions may help you to diagnose how teachable you are:
- How often do you ask for help?
- Do you admit when you are wrong?
- When was the last time you changed your opinion on a matter based on new information?
- How do you respond to criticism? Do you get defensive, or do you listen openly for truth?
- Would your friends describe you as teachable? What about your family?
- What are some steps you can take to grow in your teachability as we study the book of Proverbs?
- Pray in light of this passage and about any applications you have made
- Sing Be Thou My Vision to God and to one another.
