  2. What does it mean that Jesus is the light of the world? (v. 12)
    1. What do light and darkness signify?
    2. How does this relate to other things Jesus has said about himself?
  3. When Jesus says he's going away in verse 21, what else does he add that he didn't say in John 7:34?
    1. What is the connection between sin and death?
    2. How do the Jews respond differently to the last time Jesus spoke like this? (John 7:35-36)
  4. What does Jesus promise in verse 28?
    1. What does "the Son of Man" being lifted up refer to? (Isaiah 52:13Numbers 21:9, etc.)

    1. Read 1 John 1:7
      1. Think about one thing from your last week that has not been pleasing to God.
      2. Confess that to God and to someone else so that you can "walk in the light"
    2. Read Romans 12:1-2.
      1. How can you grow in pleasing the Lord and presenting yourself as a holy sacrifice?
  3. Pray in light of this passage and about any applications you have made
  4. Sing All I Have is Christ to God and to one another.
